Title: Synthesis and characterization of poly(imide-sulfonamides)

Abstract: The objective of this research project was to synthesize and characterize eight novel copoly(imide-sulfonamides) 1, 2, where R was 4,4'-oxydianiline, 4,4' -methylene dianiline, 4,4'-diamino diphenyl sulfone, and 1,12 diaminododecane, respectively. After synthesis, these eight polymers were characterized by dilute solution viscosity, infrared spectroscopy, thermal gravimetric analysis, and differential scanning calorimetry. Prepared polamic acids of copoly(imide-sulfonamides) were cast on glass plates and thermally cured to give films which would be evaluated for reverse osmosis and hyperfiltration. *Please refer to full-text for relevant diagram
