Title: Teaching history to deaf students
Author: Erickson, Brooke
Abstract: I have developed a curriculum based on the Salem Witch Trials incorporating the usage of "The Crucible" play written by Arthur Miller. Along with that concept, the topic of communism and Senator Joseph McCarthy will be discussed. Within this curriculum, students will be exposed to activities such as participating in class discussions, role-playing, designing a newspaper, conducting research, and writing a final paper by following the compare/contrast concept. This curriculum is expected to take a month to conduct and the students will be able to learn about how two time periods are similar to one another but yet different.
