Title: Electoral Reform in Kosovo (2010-2015) / [Presentation given in May 2011]
Author: Osmani, Besnik
Abstract: In recent years Kosovo has made efforts to organize elections in accordance with democratic principles. The results from the questionnaire introduced in this project indicate that 60 % of the respondents believe that the electoral process is not credible, citizens do not trust the voting system, and some respondents believe that votes are manipulated. The main objectives of the Capstone Project were to assess the opinion of voters and ascertain some key recommendation for improvement ... The findings and recommendations of this project aim to influence adequate changes in the electoral system in Kosovo and underline the importance to (i) extend the number of electoral zones, (ii) elect the president directly by the people, (iii) reduce the electoral threshold, (iv) avoid the second round of voting for municipality mayors, and (v) reduce the women quota.
