Title: A Study of package handling drops in the United States postal service
Author: Kausch, Thomas
Abstract: The objective of this study was to measure drop heights environment within the United States Postal Service. A popular belief has been that the United States Postal Service provided a handling environment that was more severe than other small parcel carriers. Previous studies of small package carriers have documented the handling environments of those carriers. The data gathered during the course of this study were compared to those results. The intent of this study was to provide data that would indicate that the Unites States Postal Service did not provide a handling environment that was more severe than competing carriers. An additional objective of this study was to understand and document the small package handling system used within the United States Postal Service.
