Title: CULTUS: The Church, the family, and the art-saint
Author: Carmichael, Rebekah
Abstract: N/AThis thesis installation represents the artist's visual statement of the intersection of the histories of art, the Church and the family in an attempt to examine the phenomenon of sacrifice and to redefine the sacred. In addition, this work illustrates the artist's search for a voice as a woman who makes art in the wake of these pasts, attempting to strike a balance between the generally representative and the autobiographical.
