dc.description.abstract As faculty continue to develop inventions, software, biological specimens, coursework and other IP, it is important that all parties involved understand to whom the “rights” of the IP belong. It is further necessary that the IP policy be written in such a manner that it can be clearly understood and neither discourages nor inhibits the professional work and scholarship of the faculty. In addition, the policy needs to be clearer regarding applicability. For example, it is unclear whether this policy pertains to employees doing work independently. In addition it is unclear whether the policy covers work developed through myCourses, online learning, while on sabbatical, or using FEAD money. Also, if it does cover these materials, it is unclear how exactly they are covered. en_US
