dc.description.abstract Half of the worlds population, 3 billion worldwide, are either disabled or in direct contact with the disabled. According to some accounts, America is home to 50 to 55 million citizens who are either totally or partially impaired or disabled but who are gifted in other ways. Anyone can become disabled, either permanently or temporarily, through injury, illness, or aging. Most of us will experience at least some period of disability (e.g. broken arm or repetitive stress syndrome). en_US
