Abstract: This research paper discusses the various aspects of lean manufacturing and its importance in electronics manufacturing service (EMS) provider environment. The philosophy of lean manufacturing and the various tools and techniques for successful implementation are discussed in detail. The paper also provides extensive coverage of value stream mapping and cellular manufacturing and its relevance in improving the printed wiring board (PWB) assembly process.
