Abstract: Throughout the history of manufacturing management, managers are constantly refining their skills for controlling and stabilizing against various technological and market uncertainties. Some of those skills such as division of labor and buffering technnical core from external changes had been very successful in the transition from craft to industrial manufacturing system, creating the powerhouse of US manufacturing.
