Title: The impact of modularity-based manufacturing practices on manufacturing performance - A customer-driven perspective

Abstract: Modularity has become a very effective manufacturing strategy for firms to cope with rapidly changing customer requirements and increasing technology complexity. Firms are experimenting with various Modularity-Based Manufacturing Practices (MBMP) and reported significantly manufacturing performance improvements. However, empirical research on MBMP is extremely limited. This study develops a valid and reliable measure for MBMP through large-scale questionnaire survey. The relationship between MBMP and manufacturing performance is then closely examined using structural equation modeling.
