dc.description.abstract The purpose of my thesis will be to incorporate structural members as aesthetic elements in furniture design. In architecture, structure is a major design concern. As a result of the interrelationship between these disciplines, I will apply architectural principles to furniture design. In my thesis I propose to expose and use structure for defining form. More specifically I plan to utilize structure in ways that reveal its own beauty through its functional purpose. I plan to explore this idea by producing as many pieces as possible during the year of my thesis work. Each piece done will involve techniques and processes new to me. en_US
